Booga Red.

A Piano Guitar Vocal Combo steeped in the Barrelhouse Boogie Blues House Party tradition of 1930's downtown Chicago, Booga Red play music for drinking, dancing and making merry, championing the early pioneers, reviving the energy and excitement of the beginnings of a musical revolution that was to change the world... This is the Roots of Rock'n'Roll!

Songs you know, songs you don't, songs from artists that shaped the music of a later generation; innovators such as Big Bill Broonzy, Pete Johnson, Big Joe Turner, Albert Ammons, Washboard Sam, Blind Boy Fuller, Tampa Red, Roosevelt Sykes, Scrapper Blackwell; the founding fathers of a sound that would inspire the future icons of musical history; Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton; this is where it all began!

Steve English - Guitar and Vocals.

In a professional career spanning more than three decades, Steve's guitar playing and songwriting have been in constant demand. In addition to many other projects, he has worked with The Searchers, The Suzi Quatro Band and Cockney Rebel.

Steve maintains a lifelong passion for the delta and Chicago blues of the 1930/40s. His driving guitar and vocal style echo that of the great Big Bill Broonzy, whose timeless rhythms helped shape the RnR music of a later generation.

Steve has shared stages with Spikedrivers, James Hunter and Mississippi legend David "Honeyboy" Edwards. His TV appearances include the BBC1 "Sounds New" program, and he has broadcast on BBC Radio 2. His songs have also been aired on syndicated online blues radio shows.

Claire Hamlin - Piano

Well established on the Rock'n'Roll scene, Claire has toured far and wide, from London's Royal Festival Hall and 100 Club to festivals in Denmark, Ireland, Italy and Greece, playing with top Jump Jive and R'n'R bands. Claire has performed with many of the original 50's artists who pioneered the British Rock'n'Roll movement, working alongside Mike Berry, Vince Eager, Kingsize Taylor, Cliff Bennett, Chas Hodges and Wee Willie Harris, as well as backing visiting American artists.

Originally inspired to play by 50's RnR greats such as Jerry Lee Lewis, the mystery of where it all began has drawn Claire to search out the origins of their music, looking back in time to discover the boogie woogie players of the 30's, the history of the barrelhouses and honky-tonks, the raw, addictive sounds that rocked'n'rolled before rock'n'roll was known... and to recapture that excitement.
